Harmonic Explore

See every AI tool, every interaction, and every business use case driving adoption across your organization.

Overview

‍

Harmonic Explore gives CISOs, CIOs, and AI leaders the visibility they need to make effective AI governance and investment decisions.

‍

Deploy the Harmonic browser extension, and within days you’ll have a complete map of the AI tools your workforce actually uses, the data flowing into them, and the business outcomes employees are getting in return. You can also gain the same insights into desktop AI usage via OpenTelemetry data from compatible applications (including Claude Cowork and ChatGPT Codex).

Map Every AI Tool Your Workforce Touches

‍

View prompt level insights across over 1,000 applications, including embedded AI features inside the SaaS tools your teams already work with.

‍

Each tool comes with a detailed profile covering who's using it, how often, and whether the vendor trains on user inputs.

‍

Every application carries a risk score built from the factors security teams actually weigh, giving you a consistent way to evaluate hundreds of tools without manually researching each one.

Turn Raw Activity Into Business Use Case Intelligence

‍

Knowing which tools are in use is only half the picture. Explore tells you why they're being used.

‍

Harmonic’s Usage Intelligence engine classifies every interaction into tasks that roll into custom business use cases automatically. You see which use cases are driving real productivity gains and which ones are quietly creating exposure.

‍

Invest efficiently, retire shelfware, and govern usage with a clear roadmap of exactly how AI is used across your organization.

FAQs

Quick answers about Harmonic Security

Is this just DLP with an AI sticker on it?

No. Pattern-matching DLP cannot tell a draft email from a deal memo because prompts are unstructured and contextual. Static rules either flood teams with false positives or get ripped out entirely. We classify the meaning of the work, not the shape of the string. That is what lets us govern inline, where DLP can only monitor.

How is this different from Zscaler, Netskope, or any other SASE tool?

Harmonic complements SASE tools by covering AI activity that network inspection alone cannot consistently see, including desktop applications, command-line tools, IDEs, AI APIs, and agentic workflows that use MCP. It discovers how employees and agents use AI, classifies the data and business context involved, and applies inline controls where the surface supports them. SASE remains useful for network enforcement, while Harmonic provides AI-specific visibility and policy controls across application, endpoint, and agent activity.

‍

What about Microsoft Purview?

Purview gives you visibility inside only Microsoft tools and only works as a traditional keyword based DLP solution. Real AI usage is not Microsoft-only. We see the full stack across vendors, including the long tail and the agentic surfaces, and we provide context aware guardrails for employees and their agents.

Can't we just block all unapproved tools?

Blocking unapproved AI tools can reduce immediate risk, but it does not control what employees and agents do inside approved tools. Employees may also move work to personal accounts when they lack a suitable alternative. Harmonic lets security teams apply granular controls to approved AI tools and agent actions, including how sensitive data can be shared and which connected systems an agent can access.

‍

What enforcement options should an AI usage control platform support?

An AI usage control platform should support silent logging, contextual warnings, employee coaching, and real-time blocking. Security teams should be able to choose the response based on the tool, account, data, user, and action involved. Many organizations start with warn-and-log during rollout, then add blocking for high-confidence events involving sensitive data or risky accounts. The platform should also make clear which surfaces support monitoring and which support inline enforcement.

‍

What about AI agents that act autonomously, not just a human typing into a chat window?

This is the problem most security platforms cannot see yet. When an agent reads a file, calls an API, writes to a database, and emails a summary, all without a human in the loop, there is no browser request to inspect and no prompt to classify at the keyboard. We govern at the MCP layer and at the tool surface, which is where agentic workflows execute. Policy follows the action, not the person.

How do you avoid this becoming employee surveillance?

HR, Finance, Ops, and Founders are excluded from reporting by design. Employee names can be masked in the portal. The dataset is sanitized and frozen. EU hosting is available on request. The design principle is that security teams need risk visibility, not a feed of individual employee behavior. We made the hard restraint choices in the product so you do not have to defend them in every internal review.

How fast is deployment?

Harmonic can be deployed through Intune, Jamf, Kandji, or Group Policy. The browser extension covers supported browsers, while the MCP Gateway runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux. Organizations begin seeing AI application activity after rollout, with coverage expanding as more endpoints and integrations come online.

‍

What OpenAI surfaces do you actually cover?

Harmonic covers ChatGPT and Codex across supported web, desktop, and command-line environments. It provides discovery and monitoring across those surfaces, with inline guardrails where the application and deployment method support them. Harmonic also monitors calls to OpenAI APIs from scripts and other applications.

‍

Does this help with the EU AI Act, GDPR, or other regulations?

Yes, though compliance is a byproduct of good governance, not the other way around. The EU AI Act requires organizations to manage high-risk AI use and maintain logs of consequential AI-assisted decisions. GDPR creates exposure whenever personal data enters AI tools hosted outside the EEA. Our data classification and logging give you the audit trail, the data residency controls, and the ability to demonstrate that AI use in your organization operates within defined boundaries. Documentation mapping our controls to specific regulatory requirements is available on request.
