Successful adoption of generative AI requires both effective data security and identity and access management. With users piling data into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and other tools, security teams need insights that help to understand who is sharing what data into which tools.
Our integration with Microsoft Entra ID (formerly known as Azure Active Directory) is our first external data source integration to provide insights into the “who”. When we asked our customers what integrations they needed – Entra ID came top of the list as the most widely-used identity and access management service!
In this blog, I’ll outline more details about the integration and how you can set this up if you’re a Harmonic customer.
Leveraging Entra ID in Harmonic
Within Harmonic Insights, we provide a continuous view of users leveraging GenAI and GenAI-enabled applications. We display this information in an application-centric view, as well as in an employee-centric view.
Once enabled, you can view and filter employees by Entra ID’s department and office locations. These views are available within the Employee page and across GenAI Application profiles.
Most organizations we speak to are still trying to understand how their employees are using these tools. By viewing GenAI usage through the lens of department and location, you can better understand which areas of your business are adopting GenAI, for what reasons, and where the most significant risks exist.
Additionally, where applicable, each employee profile is now enriched with user information from Entra ID. This provides the necessary context for investigating why an employee is using a particular tool, without the need to pivot directly into your Entra ID admin center for more information. In addition to the office location and department, you can see names, pictures, titles, and more.
